Elvis Presley, a old star that influenced the pop and country music of time tremendously. Elvis began his singing career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis.  He created many hit songs and starred in 33 successful films. Elvis made history as the man who made pop and rock n roll okay in the US. Globally he has sold over one billion records and has won many awards. Elvis lived from January 8, 1935 till August 16, 1977.  Watching his movies and music videos has made me wish that I could of been alive at the time of his existence.

Do you know where your food comes from? And how your meat is produced?

I have watched the movie Food Inc that takes you behind the kitchen to where and how the meat and other foods are produced and prepared. It takes you back to the farm that the animals are raised and shows how the animals are treated and abused. The animals are kept in small dark areas where they can hardly move and given unhealthy non nutritional food such as corn just to make the animal fat so they can get more money for each animal. People are starting to eat more fast food and unhealthy solutions because the organic more healthy choices are too expensive and fast food is a faster and more easy way to feed your family. These big meat companies don’t care as much what the food they are giving their customers but more about the money.

One of my assignments in my wed design class was to edit this photo of a girl on gimp. I got rid of her blemishes, put lipstick on her, gave her some blush, mascara, eye shadow and lightened her brown eyes into a different shade.I also changed her sweater color.Gimp is a free and easy way to edit a photo.

Realism

Realism is based on the direct observation of the modern world.The realist movement showed the time of the 1900’s through poems, songs, art and story’s. We look through the eyes of the artist to see what is really going on. During the 1900’s people grew away from the Gothic fantasy and told the story of every day life. The themes of realism were loneliness, cultural isolation, and customs. Examples of realism is The Yellow wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, The Story Of an Hour by Kate Chopin, and a very famous man Langston Hughes who wrote Harlem, The weary Blues and When The Negro Was In Vogue. These artist bring out the thoughts of racism and suffrage of woman rights. Realism began in France and came to America during the early 1900’s. Realism helps us today understand what the people were feeling during that time period. Realism stressed the actual, and opposed the imagined. I have learned about realism in my English 11 class and have found it very interesting. If you want to learn more about it click here

Justin Bieber arrest

Justin Bieber speeding down a residential area has been accused of resisting arrest and driving under the influence. Justin had admitted to have been consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana that night at the drag racing in Miami Beach. Justin was being held on suspicion of resiting arrest without violence of a DUI and driving with a invalid drivers license. He was said to be racing another driver, identified as Khalil Sharieff, a rapper was also charged with a DUI.  According to the arrest report both of the vehicles were going between 55 and 60 mph in a 30 mph zone. The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music is a movie about a young woman named Maria is failing miserably in her attempts to become a nun.When the Navy captain Georg Von Trapp writes to the convent asking for a governess that can handle his seven mischievous children,Maria is given the job. This movie is a romance musical drama. As a child I would watch this movie every Sunday and still love to watch it! Every little girl should see the Sound of Music. I think this movie is a great family movie.

Titanic

Why Are There Still So Few Woman in Science?

Of all the Physics professors only 14 percent are woman.The numbers of black or Hispanic are even are lower. The reason is highly mysterious. They try to keep woman out of the stem fields. A woman in 1987 said “I attended a rural public school whose few accelerated courses in physics and calculus I wasn’t allowed to take because, as my principal put it, girls never go on in science and math.”
