Elvis Presley, a old star that influenced the pop and country music of time tremendously. Elvis began his singing career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis.  He created many hit songs and starred in 33 successful films. Elvis made history as the man who made pop and rock n roll okay in the US. Globally he has sold over one billion records and has won many awards. Elvis lived from January 8, 1935 till August 16, 1977.  Watching his movies and music videos has made me wish that I could of been alive at the time of his existence.

Do you know where your food comes from? And how your meat is produced?

I have watched the movie Food Inc that takes you behind the kitchen to where and how the meat and other foods are produced and prepared. It takes you back to the farm that the animals are raised and shows how the animals are treated and abused. The animals are kept in small dark areas where they can hardly move and given unhealthy non nutritional food such as corn just to make the animal fat so they can get more money for each animal. People are starting to eat more fast food and unhealthy solutions because the organic more healthy choices are too expensive and fast food is a faster and more easy way to feed your family. These big meat companies don’t care as much what the food they are giving their customers but more about the money.

Parents of sick 1-year-old defend sailing trip after Navy rescue

An interesting article I have read from the LA times is Parents of sick 1-year-old defend sailing trip after Navy rescue. It is about a family that is rescued hundreds of miles off Mexico’s coast when the family is with a sick 1-year-old baby and a disabled sailboat.The family had sent a message to a via satellite phone for help from the coast guard. The family had been rescued safely and the child had given medical attention but the family has received criticism from many that them sailing a worldwide trip with a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old was bad decision. The family has defended themselves saying that this is how our family has lived for seven years and when they started this journey it was more then a year ago and had prepared as well as any sailing crew. This family has a love for the sea and states that “The ocean is one of the greatest forces of nature and it always has the potential to overcome those who live on or near it.”

 

Seattle news helicopter crashes in ball of fire; 12 dead, 1 critical

“Komo- Tv confirmed that its helicopter had crashed early Tuesday morning on takeoff, destroying three vehicles that burned outside its station.”But some say that the helicopter crash could of been worse if it was in a area more trafficked because it was the early morning when people are just coming into work . The man who was injured was the age of 38 and suffered 50% burns of his body. The 2 that were dead were the ones on board the helicopter. To read more click here

The Great Gatsby

In my English 11 class we have been reading a modernism book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott. Fitzgerald. We also have been watching 3 of its films that are all different in their own ways.  The newest movie with Leonardo DiCaprio,  follows the book more correctly and is my favorite out of this selection of movies.

 

Mickey’s bike shop logo

I have created my own logo for Mickey’s bike shop in the program inkscape. I used creativity to create my own shapes and background to make a bulletin board and a sticker to appeal to its audience. The sticker is supposed to appeal more to woman with the heart and star shapes. I also created a button on inkscape.

For  my finished Inkscape city I used tools such as the Draw Bezier to create shadows, Gradient tool to make the shadow blend out for it to look more realistic, the circle tool to create a moon and rectangle tool for the little squares to make windows. My city takes place at night when to moon is coming up and people are still working late in their offices.

In class Web Design class I have been working with this program named inkscape. We created two images in class together, the background and the green image below. After I created my own images the mouse and the blonde girl. We created these by making circles and squares and shaping them into characters/images.

Image editing in Gimp

One of my assignments in my wed design class was to edit this photo of a girl on gimp. I got rid of her blemishes, put lipstick on her, gave her some blush, mascara, eye shadow and lightened her brown eyes into a different shade.I also changed her sweater color.Gimp is a free and easy way to edit a photo.
